Preparatory (Prep) Schools - A Definition
"Prepares" the Englishman (OK, Scot, Welshman, Irishman) for Public School
It is usually small, about 200 pupils, sometimes has a boarding facility, sometimes not, and has staff who probably cannot make it in the Public School teaching environment, but who are too good for the British State School.
Classes are small in size, about 14 - 20 kids, and the age range is from 4 to 13. They used to be for boys only, but now most are co-educational.
