Out of the Closet

Chapter 25

Kenny

The following Monday, I stood in the kitchen. It was the same spot where I had been when Javier kissed me. For a fleeting moment, I felt his lips against mine and the touch of his fingers on my hips. I hungered for more of it.

I quickly rushed to my room and locked the door. I was half hard before I managed to unbutton my jeans, and even harder when I sat on my bed with my boxers pulled down to my ankles. Closing my eyes, I imagined his naked body in front of me.

What I had been too afraid of earlier, now sent a wave of pleasure through my body. It was nothing I had experienced before, and it was so different from how it felt when I was with Hannah. And Javier wasn't even here.

I pulled my head back. My hand moved faster, and my breathing became heavier. And then it happened, a bit earlier than I had intended. I tried to grab a tissue to catch the lava that was erupting from my volcano, but it was too late. There were splashes on my shirt already.

I cleaned my shirt as best I could and stuffed the tissue into the trash. The shirt looked bad in the mirror so I quickly changed into a new one and tossed the old one into the dirty clothes hamper.

"Kenny, come here," mom's voice came from the living room.

"What is it?" I shouted back.

"When are you going to tell me?"

Tell you what? My body tensed as my brain worked to sort out what she was referring to. I walked to the living room, trying to look as innocent as possible, even though I didn't know what I was being charged with this time.

"Um, tell you what?" I asked.

"I heard you talking to Chris on Saturday," she said." "You broke up with Hannah."

And you managed to wait two days before bringing that up? That's a new world record, I thought, nodding. She should definitely find a new man and stop sticking her nose into my business. Nevertheless, out of all my secrets, she had discovered the least harmful one.

"You should've trusted me," she said. "She cheated on you with another boy, didn't she?"

"There's no other boy!" I said, raising my voice.

"What is it then?"

"She just wasn't right for me."

I walked to the kitchen to find something to eat before I had to leave for school. I poured myself a big glass of orange juice and took two chocolate muffins from the cabinet. I ate them quickly before mom noticed.

If she isn't right for me, who is? The answer was more than obvious. Of course, I couldn't be sure about it, but Javier was a million times more right than Hannah. The big question was, was it too late already.

With one big gulp, I emptied the glass and rushed to the door. I had to find Javier again, and this time we would talk. Like really talk.

Unfortunately, my determination only lasted until I was sitting in my car, squeezing the steering wheel, my head full of concerns. What would others say? My mother, Chris, teachers, everybody?

I slammed the steering wheel in frustration, but forced myself to drive to his house. In the best case, he would still be there. His car wasn't there, however, so I continued on to school. I parked the car, got out, and stared at the main building. My heart began beating faster and I had to force my legs to keep moving.

It's now or never, I decided, marching to the front doors. My legs felt heavier than before, but I got them going, and soon I was standing in the hallway. There he was, straight in front of me, stuffing his books into his locker. Javier.

I took a few steps toward the handsome jock, who hadn't noticed me yet. I was about to open my mouth, when a group of my classmates greeted me. Time stopped, and I froze.

"How was your weekend?" I asked, turning my back to Javier.

One of the boys began explaining how he had gone on a fishing trip with his cousin. I followed my friends down the hallway and tried to focus on the story. It was hard, and the best I could do was mimic the other's reactions. Only when we reached the end of the hallway did I realize how big of a coward I was.

"Um, sorry. I forgot something in my locker," I said, turning around.

Squeezing through the crowd, I made my way back toward my locker. I looked in every direction, but Javier was nowhere. I rushed to the other hallway at the end. There were only a few students and none of them were him.

"Shit, shit, shit," I cursed in a silent voice, turning back toward the main hallway and my first class.

Just when I was about to lose hope, I saw him coming from the bathroom, wiping his hands on his jeans. He noticed me and turned his head quickly in the other direction and continued toward his locker. I sprinted behind him, disobeying the rule that one shouldn't run inside. He took a book from his locker and closed the door without looking at me. Then he walked away.

"Wait," I panted, taking hold of his hand from behind.

He turned around.

"What do you want?"

"You," I said before I realized what had come out of my mouth.

He nearly dropped his book. For a moment, his eyes were as big as plates, and then a tentative grin began to grow on his face.

"You want me?" he asked.

"The other day at the mall when you asked if I was gay," I said, blushing. "I am."

"But you have a girlfriend," he said, his face becoming severe.

"We broke up on Saturday," I said quickly.

There were other students in the hallway, but I stood still when he moved closer to me. It took all of my mental power not to look around, but I had decided not to screw it up this time. The grin on his face got bigger, and he looked exactly the same as I had imagined this morning, except now he had his clothes on.

"Prove it to me," he whispered in my ear. "Kiss me."

"What?" I said, staring directly into his deep brown eyes, which smiled at me.

He opened his mouth to say something, but before any words came out, I took his head in my hands and moved closer so our lips touched. It was a brief kiss, but in the crowded hallway, it must have meant the world to him. At least that was how his face looked.

"Dude, I was just joking," he said.

I blushed.

"Um, I'm… I'm so sorry…"

"Don't be. I liked it."

I couldn't believe what I had done. I stood there, letting my arms hang at my sides, not sure what to say next. He looked at me, and the sexy grin on his face delighted me until the sound behind my back scared me big time.

"Just the man I'm looking for," came a loud greeting.

It was Chris!

"Me? What have I done now?" Javier asked, his eyes becoming sharp.

"Actually, I need your help with…" Chris' words stopped when he recognized me. "You? Did you…"

I raised my gaze from the floor and said, "yes we did."

The bell rang, signaling it was time for our first class.
