Silently
Silently I watch you
quietly standing before me
I could so easily reach out
and stroke your smooth alabaster chhek
but to do so
would be my end.
Your wide, clear blue eyes
fix me with their trust
how could you possibly know?
Your sweet roselike mouth
half open as if to speak
your smile is a light to a fuse
I must extinguish that spark
lest I explode.
Your golden hair
glows like a halo
shining in your innocence
I am blinded by love.
Casual, unconcerned, artless
you will soon sadly learn
that your beauty is a weapon.
I pray you never use it
it is deadly
Silently, slowly, sadly I turn away
Your image burnt into my brain
Beauty is so cruel.
