Before and After

The words that cut like a knife
The smiles to let me know you still cared
The blackness of loneliness that fills so many days
My heart feels these memories today
These are my past

Out of despair, I try to find a way out
I tried it before, but it wasn't the way
I search for a truth, a path, a way
Suddenly a friend says he misses me

Why does this mean so much to me now
Would I miss me too
Then the lightning strikes

A flash
A moment
A truth
I decide

I will walk to my future looking forward
